About These Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of this website and any booking you make with THE ZEN DEN, a private, home-based hair studio operated by Rachel in Ōmokoroa, Bay of Plenty, New Zealand. By submitting a booking through this site, or by phone or text, you agree to these terms.

Our Services

We offer hair cutting, styling, colour, and scalp/massage services, along with add-ons such as beard trims, fringe trims, and deep conditioning treatments, as described on our Services page. We also offer Soul Path Readings, a numerology-based reading service (see the dedicated section below).

Prices listed on this site are in New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and may change from time to time. The price confirmed at the time of your booking is the price that applies to your appointment.

Making a Booking

Weekday appointments (Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 2:00pm) can be booked directly through the online booking form on this site. Saturday appointments are by after-hours phone or text booking only, arranged directly with Rachel. We are closed on Sundays.

A booking is a request until it has been personally reviewed and confirmed by Rachel. You will receive a confirmation email once your appointment is accepted, along with our private studio’s arrival and parking details. No payment is required to submit a booking request.

Cancellations & Rescheduling

As a private, single-chair studio, spaces are limited and a missed appointment can’t easily be filled at short notice. We kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice for any cancellation or rescheduling, so that time can be offered to another client. Please contact us by phone or text as soon as you know you need to change your appointment.

Late Arrivals & No-Shows

If you’re running late, please let us know as soon as possible — arriving significantly late may mean your service needs to be shortened or rescheduled to protect the next client’s appointment. Repeated no-shows or late cancellations without notice may result in us requiring confirmation by phone before accepting future bookings from you.

Pricing & Payment

Payment for your service is made directly with Rachel at the studio at the time of your appointment. No online payment or deposit is currently required to make a booking.

Patch Tests & Client Health Information

If you’re a new client having an on-scalp colour service, or haven’t had colour applied in over 6 months, we recommend a skin patch test at least 48 hours before your appointment. You are responsible for telling us about any known allergies, sensitivities, or previous reactions to hair or skin products before your service begins. We rely on the accuracy of the information you give us to provide your service safely.

Studio Location & Privacy

THE ZEN DEN operates from a private home studio in Ōmokoroa. To protect the privacy of the home and the tranquillity of the studio, the exact address is not published publicly and is shared only with clients who have a confirmed booking. Please treat the studio address and parking instructions as private, and let us know in advance if you’d like to bring a guest.

Soul Path Readings

Soul Path Readings are a digital numerology reading based on the birth date, place, and time you provide, intended for personal insight, reflection, and entertainment purposes. They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial, or psychological advice, and should not be relied upon as such. Soul Path Readings are conducted after normal studio hours and are booked separately from hair and beauty appointments.

Liability

We take great care in providing our services, and we’ll always discuss your desired outcome with you beforehand. However, to the extent permitted by New Zealand law, THE ZEN DEN is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your appointment, and nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986 that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Intellectual Property

All text, photography, and branding on this website belong to THE ZEN DEN and may not be copied or reused without our permission, other than photos of your own completed service that you’re welcome to share for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and continuing to use our services after a change means you accept the updated terms.
